15-2, 15-4...

Hi Ya’ll,

A great big thanks to everyone who came for Cribbage School last weekend. It was great to meet some new folks and I hope I will get a chance to play all of you again!

This Saturday, August 22 we will be playing a non-official Grass Roots format tournament. That’s 9 games in under 3 hours. $11 entry fee. We will begin play promptly at 1:00pm. We will need at least 6 players to play an Official, Non-official Tourney. If we don’t have enough players, we will be playing a different format depending on how many folks we do have…

If you would like to play some warm-up games, I should be there by 12:15…where?

Flanigan’s, 4092 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA

As usual. Those who know you are coming, or know you are not coming, drop me a quick note so I can plan appropriately.

~Just in case you are wondering, the pic above did not come from last weekend. That is a scene from the National Open in Raleigh...when we have that many folks in Tucker, we will know the South has Risen again....

Hope to see you soon!

Suzy

Peach State Classic, Aug 7th-9th

A big thanks to Dave O’Neil for another great tournament! Steve Angier walked away the big winner, with Barri Gehrand coming in a close second. Those Atlanta boys know how to play some cards!

Grass Roots Season, Coming Soon!

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a while since I have dropped a note…Summer Daze.

I was lucky enough to play in 2 of my favorite tournaments of the Summer: The National Open in Raleigh and the Peach State Classic in Atlanta. It is always great to see good friends and play some cards. Perhaps one day I will play well enough to actually qualify for the play-offs, but, alas, I think the only way I can get there is by playing more cribbage.

Speaking of playing more cribbage…

The 2009-2010 Grass Roots Season is about to begin!

In preparation for the new season I am hosting a Intro to Grass Roots afternoon in Tucker. For folks who haven’t had an opportunity to play with us on Saturday afternoons, I encourage you to come out and see what it’s all about! All levels of players are welcome. Depending on who shows up will dictate the course of the day. If you want to come and learn how to play, remember how to play or come see if you can win some games, feel free. We would love to see you, meet you, play with you.

This Saturday, August 15th at 1:00 we will be gathering at Flanigan’s Pub, 4092 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA .

Next Saturday, August 22nd, we will be having a unofficial Grass Roots Tournament, the same format we play all season. We must have 6 players to make a quorum so you can come this Saturday and get familiar with the format, and come next Saturday to play the game!

The beginning of the season will be Sept 5th. We try to play every Saturday of the season, but because we are a small club, and we need at least 6 to play, we take it one weekend at a time. I will do my best to get some idea, week to week, how many folks I can expect to show and will send out updates as to the status of the upcoming tournament schedule.

There are some requirements to playing in Tournaments. You can play as a guest for 2 tournaments, but to continue you must join The American Cribbage Congress (ACC). ACC membership is $15/year for a single member or $18/year for couples. This includes membership and a monthly subscription to Cribbage World which contains information about playing tips, tournament results, and future tournaments around the U.S. and standings in the three regions of the U.S. of the tournament players. Also, there is a $5 annual fee to join the local Grass Roots Club.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments to share, please give me a call or drop me a note.

If you have a moment, please let me know if you plan to attend!

Hope to see you soon,
